僕は日曜日に石川ロードレースに行ってきました。
前の日に仙台で友達の結婚式があって、たくさんのガソリンを入れてしまいました！日曜日に早く起きて福島の石川町に行きました。
石川のコースはローリングですから僕はなかなか好きなコースです。
去年走った時にずっとトップで走ったのですが最後のゴールスプリントでは体力が足りなくてついて行けませんでした。
今回はトップグループの一番後ろで走ってみました。BR1レースをみると柏崎の村山さんはいつもそんな感じで走っています。でも気をつけないとトップグループから切れやすいですね。
スタートから一番後ろ100番くらいで走りました。登りで前から落ちてくる選手をパスしながら走りました。レースはコースを5周、68キロでした。毎周回サポートからコーラを一本もらいました。
最周回にトップグループは４0人くらいになってしまいました。
ゴールの100m手前に急なコーナーがあります。そのコーナーに入る時に1～3番くらいにいたら優勝のチャンスがあると言われています。そのコーナーの500m手前で後ろからアタックしました。HRは194(max)でフロントまで上がりました。でもコーナーに入る前に後ろから選手がきました。やっぱりアタックは早すぎました。勉強になりました！
僕は10番くらいで最後のコーナーに入ったけど前の選手がCRASHしたので止まってしまいました。自分はNEW BIKEでCRASHしなかったので良かった！
結果はトップから１５秒後２７位でした。
来週の小川ロードレースではポジショニングはそんなに大事じゃないのでもっといい結果が残せると思います。がんばります！

On Sunday, I went to the Ishikawa Road Race.
We spent the day before at a wedding party in Sendai, so I had lots of gas in the tank! On Sunday I got up early and drove down to the venue at Ishikawa town in Fukushima prefecture.
The Ishikawa course is rolling, so it’s the kind of course I like. When I rode the same course last year I stayed on the front but I didn’t have the legs to raise it a notch for the final sprint.
This year I decided to conserve energy and try to ride at the back of the top group. If you watch BR1 races, you can often see Kashiwazaki’s Murayama san doing the same thing. However, if you don’t pay attention, it’s the easiest position from which to get dropped.
From the start line I sat on the back in what must have been 100th position. As the course takes in short climbs, weaker riders gradually drop off the back. I took care to pass these riders and hold my position. The race was 5 laps of the same course covering 68km. Each lap I took a bottle of cola from the drink zone.
By the last lap the top group had been whittled down to about 40 people.
About 100 metres before the finish line there is a tight corner. If you can be in the top three at this point, it’s said you have a chance to win.
About 500m before the corner I attacked from the rear of the group. With my HR pounding at 194 (max) I got towards the front. However, people started to come round again as I closed in on the corner. It was a case of going too hard too soon. I must have been about 10th into the corner when the 2 guys in front of me crashed. I managed to stay upright but lost quite a few places. Anyway, I was just glad not to crash my new bike!
I finished 15 seconds from the top in 27th place.
Next week I’ll go to Ogawa Road Race where climbing ability is more important than positioning in the bunch. I hope I can use Ishikawa as a platform for a good result at Ogawa. I’ll do my best!

レースお疲れさま！ガソリンが足りなかった？
上越のＢＢＱは・・・アンディが来ないと！油断して？ビールの数が少なく設定してしまいます！（笑）今回もちょっと足りなかったかも？？次回は！！日程があうと良いですね！待っています！！

I noticed your HR was going over 180 on the main climb on the first two laps but on the 3rd and 4th you managed to keep it much lower - less yo-yo effect at the back as the bunch got smaller?
For your attack, perhaps you needed to be nearer the front to launch it? If you attack from the back of 40 strung out riders I guess you lost your element of surprise and some speed by the time you got to the front? Anyway, keep up the attacks!

Kawagoe さん、コメントありがとう。ガソリンはたくさん入りましたよ！でも結婚式のガソリンはHIGH OCTANE （CHAMPAGNE と WINE）ですね。やっぱり僕のエンジンはREGULAR （BEER）入れないとダメですね！また今度一緒にREGULAR 満タンにしましょうね！！！
Andrew, thanks for the post. Yes, maybe the last 2 climbs were a little easier. I think on the first 2 climbs I used a bit of energy getting through those falling off the back. However, I think I can hold a HR of 180 without too much trouble (check the Ogawa file). As for the attack, I would have liked to have been gradually creeping through the bunch on the lower reaches of the last climb but the road is narrow and twisting with little room for manouvre. I’d been edging to go so as soon as the road opened up into 2 lanes I went for it. A bit naïve really but I wasn’t expecting too much so I thought what the hell!
