飯田ロードレース行ってきました。

レースの前に二泊キャンプをしました。一日目一人いい子でよく眠りました。二日目 (レースの前の日)は新潟のF(t)Racingの田崎さん、小松さん、斉藤さんと一緒にキャンプしました。だいぶビールを飲みましたね！僕はレースの前にいつもビールを飲んでいるけど、今回はビールが終わってから更に日本酒がでました！それは田崎さんが先週弥彦ヒルクライムで優勝したときの賞品でしたね！酔っ払いになりました！F(t)Racingありがとう！

そして日曜日のレースです。
去年BR3で出た時は6位でした。僕の好きなコースです。山を登って下るコースを6周する69キロのレースです。

BR2のレースでは157人がスタートをしました。二日酔い僕と(二日酔い？)田崎さんはスタートラインで一番後ろにいました。でもスタートしたら田崎さんはどんどんフロントまで上がりました。“すごい上手”と思いました。僕はほとんどフロントグループのなかの最後尾で走りました。登りではけっこう上がりましたが下りでまた最後尾に戻りました。飯田ロードレースの下りはめちゃめちゃ怖いですね！

田崎さんとシュウゾウさんは一番トップでレースをコントロールしました。

最後のラップに入ってトップグループが30人ぐらいになりました。

そして登りに入る前に僕はアタックしました。バイクの“10秒”と書かれた小さい黒板を見て、「WOW！ TOUR DE FRANCEみたい」と思いました。

そしてシュウゾウさんともう一人の選手がグループから逃げて、ブレイクアウェイグループは3人になりました。

実業団のBR2のレースで３位に入るとBR1に上がれるので頑張って走りました。シュウゾウさんは強そうだったので”Let’s go! It’s our chance!”と言いました。

クライムの上までそのまま3人のブレイクアウェイで走りました。しかし、山の上のローリングセクションで後ろから15人くらいの選手がきました。残念！

その後山を下って、フラットの2キロくらいを走って、ゴールスプリントになりました。僕の足はすでにパンパンだったのでゴールスプリントで勝負できませんでした。でもスプリントで3人の選手がBIG CRASHしたのでスプリントに入れなかったのは良かったと思います。

17位でゴールしました。

今年最後の実業団レースは能登半島の和島市であります。がんばります！

Last weekend, I went to Iida Road Race.

For the two days leading up to the race I enjoyed camping. On the first night I was a good boy and took the chance to get a good night’s sleep.　On the second night I was joined by Tazaki san, Komatsu san and Saito san of Niigata’s F(t) Racing.　　We drank loads of beer didn’t we! I often have a few beers before a race but the problem was that once the beer ran out… out came the sake! That sake was Tazaki san’s prize from winning last week’s Yahiko Hill Climb. I ended up getting pretty wasted! Thanks F(t) Racing!

Back to the race.

Last year in the BR3 category I came 6th. It’s the kind of course I like. There are 6 laps taking in a climb, a descent and a total of 69km.

157 riders started the BR2 race. Tazaki san (hung over?) and me ( definitely hung over!) were at the very back at the start line. From the start Tazaki san gradually worked his way through the bunch. I remember thinking “He’s really good”. I rode mostly at the back of the lead group. I would move up towards the front on the climbs but tended to drift back towards the back again on the descent. The descent at Iida is pretty scary!

Tazaki san and Shuzo san rode mostly at the front and pretty much controlled the race.

By the time we entered the last lap, the lead group was down to about 30 riders.

I made my attack at the bottom of the climb. A guy riding on the lead motorbike wrote “10 secs” on a little chalk board and I remember thinking “Wow it’s like the Tour!”

Soon I was joined by Shuzo san and another rider, which made a break away group of 3.

In Jitsugyodan BR2 races, the top 3 finishers get put up to BR1 so we rode flat out. Shuzo san looked really strong, so I said to him “Let’s go! It’s our chance!”

The 3 of us stayed away beyond the top of the climb. On the upper section of the course there’s a rolling section. It was here that a group of about 15 riders swallowed us up from behind. Arrrgh!

After that we descended down and rode the 2km of flat to the finish. The finish ended up in a sprint. By that point my legs were well gone so I couldn’t get involved. That may have been a blessing in disguise as 3 guys game down in a big crash just before the line.

I came in in 17th.

The last jitsugyodan race this year is in Wajima, Noto Hanto. I’ll go there and give it my best shot!
