winter cycling
先週の柏崎の天気はひどかったですね！僕はジムとトレーナーでトレーニングをしていました。外を走るチャンスは全然なかった。でも今日はちょっと晴れたので“チャンス！”だった。
最近買ったウインターウェアを着て山に行きました。山には雪がありますね。磯野辺の2008年のラストアタックかな。。。
Last week’s weather in Kashiwazaki was just terrible! I’ve been training at the gym and on the trainer. There’s been no chance to ride outside. But then today, the sun came out, “CHANCE!”.
I put on the winter wear that I bought recently and headed for the hills. There is already quite a bit of snow in the mountains. Maybe today’s climb of Isonobe was the final attack for 2008…

me, well, started my 2009 last week. Of course, the weather here, is well, how do you say... sweet, so will do more on the bike in these base periods.
each Sunday there are numerous crit's to enter, one course is right near my house and some coin to made, too. I have tried two, and it is the perfect off-season kick to keep the legs honest, work on tactics and break aways, and basically have fun just racing bikes. 1 hour + 3 laps, which works out to an effort not to different to a hillclimb race in Japan. I am top 10 in A grade, but feel with a bit more tactical knowledge, could get up there.
Have bought a powermeter, got the wireless iBike for a sweet deal, which also records cadence / HR in the one little package. Tests and reviews seem solid, of course, it's no SRM, but I don't roll like 'dat. Will let you how she goes.
All the best for the coming winter... 'tis a nice room here in Melb's with some choice coastal riding if you get the chance.

Yes the weather here is cold. I’ve been off work for a couple of days with a bit of man flu! There’s not much chance for road riding here but I’ve been hitting the gym again – remember how much those first few sessions hurt!
Hotaka was not the same without you and Andrew driving at the front. Andrew did come to the rescue with a spare wheel though. Going down those descents on the rim, I was even slower than usual!
I checked out the “ibike”. Looks a bit pricey. I was thinking of opting for a polar sensor kit to add on to my HRM....
Glad to hear you’re into the racing. Are you still planning to come and defend your Utsukushigahara title? I’ll make it one of my priority races if you are and maybe you can sit on my wheel for the first 200m before the road picks up!
We would love to visit Melbourne again and check out that coast road.......
